State One-Act Venue: Stevens Point

During your homeroom/prep time, a university liaison will meet with you to discuss specific needs. Be prepared at this time to start the cueing process to utilize staff and equipment to the fullest, but do not go to the control booth prior to your set up time since another school will be using the booth. Your liaison will ensure you get to stage and will be on-hand to answer all questions pertaining to technical needs during your set-up time.

Jenkins Theatre #

Jenkins Theatre is in the Noel Fine Arts Center.

Performance space: 30′ W Upstage x 22′ D

No act curtain; no scenery/set pieces/props available

Upstage cross provided

Wings (both sides) noted in ground plan diagram

inputs to sound system include: 3.5 mm, ¼”, RCA, and XLR coming from your playback device

Light/sound boards located in back of the house (accessible)

6 areas (3×2); down light color control- warm (day/interior) or cool (night), upstage/downstage

Loading dock opening is spacious; pinch-point is coming in shop doors, there is a staircase that takes the pathway down to 4′ wide x 10’6″ tall.

Production Load-in/Load-out #

Load-in for Jenkins Theatre is at the south side of the Noel Fine Arts Center on Portage St.

  • The loading dock is near the middle of the south end of the building (Portage St). Unload through the corridor and into the elevator. A sign will be posted. Take the elevator to the second floor and unload in the corridor outside stage right of Jenkins Theatre.
  • Do not enter backstage until a crew member instructs you to do so. There will be a performance in progress.
  • Move scenery from the stage right corridor to backstage before starting point when instructed. Actors may enter from either SL or SR wings
  • Strike all scenery down stage on to the orchestra pit elevator (which will carry scenery only to the ground floor); all people must exit the stage via stage right (SR) staircase (unless ADA accommodations are needed – let your liaison know) and then proceed to the ground floor to then move out the trap room to Portage Street. Once the playing area of the stage (minus the orchestra pit) is clear of students and scenery, the timekeeper will stop timing. NEW IN 2025: students and school personnel are PROHIBITED from riding the orchestra pit elevator.
  • Your UWSP Host will help direct you.

House Entry/Exit #

Audience will be queued for entry via House Left (accessible entrance), and will be directed to exit House Right. When there is a line exceeding available seats, the house will be emptied and re-queued to give those waiting an opportunity to see the next show.

Michelsen Hall #

Michelsen Hall is in the Noel Fine Arts Center.

Performance space: 30′ W Upstage x 20′ D

No act curtain; no scenery/set pieces/props available

No upstage cross possible, other than by using corridor behind the house.

No masking, but SR/SL doors can function as wings

inputs to sound system include: 3.5 mm, ¼”, RCA, and XLR coming from your playback device

Light/sound boards located at mid-house cross, but could be relocated to the front aisle if needed for accessibility

All doors leading in to Michelsen are 5’8″ wide x 6’7″ tall; elevator is 6’8″ tall x 5’6″ wide at door, and 8’8″ square inside.

Production Load-in/Load-out #

Load-in for Michelsen Theatre is at the north side of the Noel Fine Arts Center in Parking Lot E, off Isadore Street.

  • Unload in Door 16, double doors (with no center mullion; 6’8″ high x 5’6″ wide) at the northwest corner of the building (off Isadore Street). A sign will be posted.
  • Turn right as soon as you clear the doors. The elevator is at the end of the corridor.
  • Take the elevator to the second floor, then turn left. The holding area will be at the bottom of the stage right (SR) stairs outside Michelsen Theatre.
  • Do not enter backstage until a crew member instructs you to do so. There will be a performance in progress.
  • Strike will be stage left. There is a staircase on the right down the corridor. Once the playing area of the stage is clear of students and scenery, the timekeeper will stop timing. If items are too heavy to carry down stairs safely, continue to the end of the corridor and turn right. The elevator is located at the center of the building.
  • Your UWSP Host will help direct you.
