Film Festival Planning
Forensic activities of Theatre, Speech, and Debate allow young people to express themselves through communication and performance, helping them build confidence to succeed in their lives. Film is a natural extension of these other processes, and provides a new medium by which students can tell original stories in imaginative ways. What’s more, with mobile devices, such as tablets and smart phones, creating and editing films has never been more accessible for a wider population. Other states, including Iowa, Texas, and Virginia, already offer a film festival alongside other forensic activities, so the WHSFA is moving boldly to provide the same opportunity for Wisconsin youth.
WHSFA has convened a steering committee to determine how a film festival series could be implemented in Wisconsin, including rules and other contest parameters. Watch this space for surveys and announcements as this process develops!
