Film Programming & Resources

Theatre, Speech, and Debate activities allow young people to express themselves through communication and performance, helping them build confidence to succeed in their lives. Film is a natural extension of these other processes, and provides a new medium by which students can tell original stories in imaginative ways. What’s more, with mobile devices, such as tablets and smart phones, creating and editing films has never been more accessible for a wider population. Other states, including Iowa, Texas, and Virginia, already offer a film festival alongside other forensic activities, so the WISDAA is moving to provide the same opportunity for Wisconsin youth. WISDAA has convened a steering committee and is engaged in a pilot online program before implementing an in-person event replete with instructional workshops for young people and their mentor educators.
